Who We Are

“Restoring Dignity. Rebuilding Lives. Strengthening Community.”

Who We Are

Founded in 2001 by the Brothers of Charity, Thandanani Centre began as a small home for just ten residents, rooted in a simple yet powerful belief: that mental illness should never strip a person of dignity, belonging, or purpose. Over the years, our centre has grown to care for more than sixty adults living with psychiatric conditions, offering not just accommodation, but a place of safety, understanding, and hope. Our vision is to create a structured and nurturing environment that enhances well-being, supports recovery, and enables individuals to reconnect meaningfully with their communities. Guided by our mission to develop, motivate, and educate, we work intentionally to rehabilitate and integrate those in our care while providing ongoing support and advocacy. Behind this work is a dedicated team of board members, mental health professionals, caregivers, and volunteers who live out our philosophy of being “People for People.” Together, we strive to challenge stigma, promote compassion, and walk alongside each individual on their journey toward stability, self-worth, and a fuller life.
